VVHS students head to nationals

Jackrabbits to compete at SkillsUSA after winning state gold

Two groups of Victor Valley High School students will attend a nationwide career and technical education competition next week after being named SkillsUSA gold medalists for the state of California earlier this spring.

The students will represent California at the SkillsUSA National competition being held in Louisville, Kentucky, June 19-24.
The gold medalists in the Medical categories are Maralyn Arceo (Medical Assisting), Elizabeth Valdovines (Basic Health Care) and Lyndsay Guerra (Nursing Assisting).

Victor Valley High School also took home a statewide gold medal in the TeamWorks in Construction category, with Anthony Hernandez, Esdras Moreno, Yomel Pelayo and Osvaldo Tapia named state champions.
 
The teams’ instructors at Victor Valley High School are Heidi Shaw (medical) and Brock Baziak (construction).

SkillsUSA is a nationwide career and technical student organization serving students enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations.
