Cheered on by family, friends and coworkers, including district personnel and CIMS Principal Clarissa McNally, Marouf delivered a speech about his passion for teaching the special bond he has with his students.

“Everything we do can have an impact on their lives, and this goes both ways,” Marouf said.

Marouf, who was also named VVUHSD’s Employee of the Year for 2018-19, has been a math teacher at CIMS for five years. He has taught in VVUHSD since he became a teacher 12 years ago.

“This is paradise for me; I love it here,” Marouf said. “I want to retire here.”

The ceremony last month was organized by VVUHSD staff along with staff from the Riverside County Office of Education. The awards honor educators from Riverside, Mono and Inyo counties.

The University Preparatory Chamber Orchestra provided entertainment, and the Victor Valley High School Junior ROTC provided color guard services.
