A Silverado offensive lineman was one of only two High Desert players named to the San Bernardino County Sun’s Preseason All-Area Football Team this week.

Hawks senior Tyson Pauling made the Sun’s list, which was released online Wednesday night.

Pauling, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound tackle, is entering his third year as a varsity player for the Hawks, who kick off their season at home Friday night against Apple Valley.

Fellow Victor Valley Union High School District schools Victor Valley High and Adelanto High also start the season Friday, with VVHS traveling to Rialto and AHS traveling to Lake Elsinore to take on Lakeside.

The only other local player named to the team was Oak Hills junior offensive lineman Vicellous Phipps.
