Department receives Nutrition Champion Award

The Victor Valley Union High School District Nutrition Services Department was recently recognized by the San Bernardino County Public Health Nutrition Program for running an excellent community meal program over the summer.

The county gave VVUHSD its Nutrition Champion Award for the district’s Summer Food Service Program, which was held at both Adelanto High School and Victor Valley High School.

The county was especially impressed by the summer meal kickoff events that were held at both sites, which included a NASCAR racing simulator presented by the Colton Police Department and its outreach program Kids2Cops, in addition to other attractions.

Nutrition Services Director Jason Hill and Supervisor Robynne Sokolowski said that staff members Sophie Der Galstanian, Shukria Noori, Teresa Doerksen and Rita Arias were vital to the program, which provided free lunches to all children in the community during the summer months.
