A message from Dr. Ron Williams, Superintendent
As instruction and activities return to normal this week, our thoughts are with all members of our community affected by the Blue Cut Fire. We’d like to thank our students and their parents/guardians for their cooperation and support.
We’d also like to express enormous gratitude to all staff members for their actions during a difficult and unusual week. Staff acted quickly to protect our students from poor air quality as the fire broke out Tuesday. District administrators and staff collaborated with neighboring districts and public safety officials on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as we made the difficult decisions to close our sites for two days and then reopen Friday. These decisions were quickly communicated to the public through district-wide automated phone calls, social media, traditional media, and our websites.
Our site principals were at their respective schools Wednesday to inform a few students who were unaware of the closure, and the site administrators did a fantastic job adjusting to the minimum day schedule and getting schools up and running Friday. District administrators pitched in by traveling to sites across the district this morning to make sure things went smoothly.
Last but not least, our teachers and classified staff members once again showed their dedication to the students of our community. Teacher and staff turnout was high on Friday, and extra resources were mostly unneeded.
Many people in our district went above and beyond the call of duty in a challenging situation. Our district continues to move in the right direction because of talented, hard-working and dedicated people like you. Thank you!
Ron Williams, Ed.D.
