Special Education Program

I began my career in education working as a Director in a parochial school. As a Director of a Catholic school, I was responsible for my direct staff and accounts payable and receivable. During my tenure with Our Lady of Peace Catholic School, I worked multiple jobs, one of which was teaching history at the local university.

 My first public appointment was as a long term substitute teacher in a medically fragile, severely handicap program with the Moreno Valley Unified School District. I was with Moreno Valley for one year prior to obtaining a full teaching contract after which I was appointed to my first contract position with Palm Springs Unified where I taught special day class (SDC) social studies, math and English language arts for three years at James Workman Middle School. Later, I transferred to a resource specialist position with the Redlands Unified School District where I taught English language arts at Redlands East Valley High School.

 After being with Redlands Unified for several years, I promoted to the position of Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), Curriculum Coach: English Language Arts with Banning Unified School District. While in Banning, I served as an administrator of the summer school program at Banning High School. I left Banning Unified to become a Program Specialist with the East County SELPA: San Diego County Office of Education where I coordinated programs and services for students with special needs in multiple districts.

 As the current Director of Special Education with Victor Valley Union High School District, I look forward to serving the children of our community by providing them with sound programs that foster independence and prepare them to not only compete in a global economy but to become leaders of the 21^st century.
