Both of the Victor Valley Union High School District Employees of the Third Quarter are from Victor Valley High School.

Dave Nocera won the certificated award, while Emily Johnson was the classified Employee of the Quarter.

Nocera is a longtime VVHS teacher who fills multiple roles at the school, including Activities Director, ASB, AVID and Yearbook. His nominators said he “continually goes above and beyond the call of duty.”

“His students are changing and improving the culture of the Jackrabbits,” one nominator said. “He’s committed to doing an exceptional job.”

The nominators also noted that three of his AVID students were accepted to UCLA.

Nocera’s VVHS coworker Emily Johnson won the classified award. She’s an administrative assistant for activities, athletics and 11th-grade discipline.

“She does the job of three people,” said one nominator. “She does this with a smile on her face daily and never complains. She loves her job and it shows.”

Another nominator said she is “always willing to lend a hand to anyone else.”

Employees of the Quarter are nominated by their peers. Employees of the Fourth Quarter and Employees of the Year will be honored at the June 14 board meeting.
