Two Victor Valley Union High School District students took the top two spots in the recent Victorville Rotary Club Ethics Essay Contest.

Cindy Pabla of Victor Valley High School and Elva Esqueda Larios of Adelanto High School took first and second, respectively, in the annual contest. Pabla won a cash prize of $200, while Esqueda Larios won $100.

Pabla was joined by her father while Esqueda Larios was accompanied by AHS Principal Ebony Purcell at a recent Rotary luncheon, where each student read her essay to Rotary members and received an award.

Pabla wrote about “the righteous decisions made in matters where deciding on the morally wrong appears to be easier.” Esqueda Larios wrote about the importance of ethics in how she perceives herself and lives her life.

Congratulations to these standout students!
