Posted on 03/01/2018

Natalie Galvan, a Silverado High School senior and future Marine, has been named the Victor Valley Union High School District Student of the Month.

Galvan is a First Sergeant in Silverado’s Cadet Corps program, and she was lauded by the school’s teachers and administrators for her outstanding attendance, leadership and 3.8 GPA.

“She’s shown herself to be trustworthy and dependable,” said Lt. Col. Jaime Monsalve, Galvan’s Cadet Corps instructor. “She embodies the core values of the Cadet Corps, which are selflessness, integrity and respect. She’s become an incredible role model for the other cadets.”

Galvan has attended Silverado for two years and previously attended Cobalt Institute of Math and Science. She participates in choir and weight training, and she says her favorite academic subjects are physics and English.

Galvan, 18, has already enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and will enter basic training after graduation. She hopes to go into the field of logistics when she joins the USMC.

“In 10th grade I got interested in going to the military and serving our country,” Galvan said. “The training is intense and I like a challenge.”

Congratulations to our latest district-wide Student of the Month!
